MEET THE ARTIST

Ama Liyanage

Ama Liyanage was born in Sri Lanka and currently lives and works in Kitchener, Ontario. She is a self taught artist who has been honing her skills in watercolor and printmaking for the past several years. Ama has been included in various exhibitions including “Afternoon Tears” at Button Factory Arts and “Women at Leisure II and IV at Homer Watson House & Gallery. In 2022, She received the 1st prize award for Women at Leisure IV at the Annual Juried Show at HWHG. 

Ama has a passion for imagining intricate characters and worlds inspired by her life from Sri Lanka to Canada and the stories of people and places she encountered along the way.

One of the most unexpected yet meaningful parts of her art journey has been the connections she has made with the vibrant art community in Kitchener-Waterloo, as well as the city itself.
